Cathodic protection wells are widely installed to protect metallic objects in contact with the ground from electrolytic corrosion.

Swissboring has been active in the drilling of Cathodic protection wells for the ADNOC oil fieldssince 1995 and has so far completed around 7000+ wells. The wells were drilled to different depths extending up to 175m. The normal diameter for drilling CP wells were in the range between 200mm and 300mm. The construction of CP wells was limited not only to the drilling works, but installation of steel casing, anodes and pumping of coke breeze as deigned by the CP consultant.
