ON GOING WORK FOR DEEP TUNNEL STORMWATER SYSTEM IN DUBAI

Work has started in Dubai for the  construction of the mega drainage system ,the project's scope of work consist of a main tunnel along D-53 road, minimum 9 meters diameter tunnel approximately 12,000 meters long and five construction / drop shafts and connection chambers at the shafts located in the area of Jebel Ali, Dubai.

The project will serve Al Maktoum Airport area, the Expo 2020 area and the nearby urban complexes covering 400 square kilometers.

The project involves collecting and transporting of rain and groundwater through underground tunnels into the Gulf waters for disposal as a long-term solution to tackle the issue of rainwater drainage.

Swissboring has been appointed by the Joint Venture PORR-BESIX for the execution of the Diaphragm Wall for the excavation of the five shafts + five chambers, the shafts have an approximate diameter of 22 meter up to a maximum depth of 52 meter and a wall thickness of 1200mm.
